Video Interceptor VIDIK-P v3 Portable 1.2, 3.3, 5.8GHz — Micro-wave
Purpose: The VIDIK-P v3 portable drone video detector from Micro-wave is designed for automatic searching and displaying unencrypted analog video signals from FPV drones. Upon signal detection, the device immediately outputs video to the built-in screen and provides an audible alert, simultaneously showing the frequency and RSSI signal level.

VIDIK Modifications
The VIDIK detector is serially produced in four modifications, tested at proving grounds and ready for mass production:
- Option #1 — VIDIK-P: portable interceptor for 2 bands (1.2 GHz and 5.8 GHz), all integrated into one housing: screen, receivers, antennas, battery;
- Option #2 — VIDIK-S: stationary interceptor for 2 bands (1.2 GHz and 5.8 GHz) with separated screen and receiver, antennas connected via twisted pair (UTP) to reduce losses when extending the antenna — optimal for vehicles, armor, or stationary positions;
- Option #3 — VIDIK-P v3: portable interceptor for 3 bands (1.2 GHz, 3.3 GHz, 5.8 GHz) in one housing;
- Option #4 — VIDIK-S v3: stationary interceptor for 3 bands with separated screen and receiver, antennas connected via UTP — increased efficiency for use with remotely separated antennas.
Model Selection Tips
If antennas are planned to be extended a significant distance from the receiver, consider coaxial cable losses: for example, RG-58 at 10m in the 5.8 GHz band results in approximately 17 dB loss (signal will be about 7 times weaker near the receiver), RG-8 results in about 7 dB loss (approximately 2.2 times). For longer extensions (e.g., 30m), even LNA amplifiers do not fully compensate for losses due to additional noise. Therefore, for antenna separation, it is better to choose VIDIK-S series models.
Operating Principle
After power-on, VIDIK automatically begins scanning the airwaves by frequency with a 2 MHz step, without the need to press additional buttons. A blinking red LED indicates searching. Upon detecting a video signal, the device stops scanning, the screen automatically turns on, an audible signal is emitted, and the LED glows steadily. To mute the sound, press button I; the sound will resume upon the next video detection. To ignore the current frequency, press button I for 10 seconds — the screen will display "Ignore" with this frequency. The "up" and "down" buttons change the scanning direction (up/down in frequency, with cyclic return). The "+" and "-" buttons are used for fine-tuning with a 2 MHz step. The total scanning time for all bands is approximately 15-20 seconds. While detected video is displayed, the detector does not scan other frequencies.
Limitations
The device is not designed to intercept digital encrypted video (e.g., from DJI Mavic, Autel, Zala UAVs, etc.), but is developed to intercept unencrypted analog video signals from FPV drones.
Practical Results and Interception Range
- With a 1W transmitter in the 5.8 GHz band, flight altitude 70-100m over flat terrain — interception distance 2300-2500m;
- User feedback: at 1.2 GHz — interception up to ~8 km recorded; at 3.3 GHz with a directional antenna — stable signal at ~10 km (transmission conditions and transmitter power unknown).
