What is a concrete vibrator?

A concrete vibrator is a construction tool used to compact fresh concrete mix. The working part is called a vibrator head: it is immersed in concrete, after which it creates frequent vibrations within the layer.

Vibration causes air to escape from the mix, gravel settles more densely, and the solution better fills the space around the rebar. Without such compaction, voids can remain in the concrete.
