What is an MFP?
An MFP is a multifunction device that combines a printer, scanner, and copier. It prints documents, makes copies, and converts paper sheets into digital files. For home use, such equipment is convenient due to its compactness; for the office, it's convenient for quick work with contracts, invoices, applications, waybills, and archival papers.
What functions do MFPs use?
A multifunction device is essentially a printer and scanner, meaning one device that performs several tasks. The printer is responsible for printing, the scanner reads text or images, and the copier makes copies without a computer. Models may feature Wi-Fi, USB, duplex printing, an automatic document feeder, a display, and color or black-and-white modes. For photos and graphics, it's worth separately considering inkjet printers.
Where are MFPs used?
At home, MFPs are used for studying, receipts, document copies, simple scanning, and printing files from a phone or laptop. For the office, other factors are important: speed in pages per minute, cartridge or toner resource, tray capacity, and stable paper feeding. If printing is almost entirely text-based, it's appropriate to consider laser printers.
Advantages of inkjet printers
Inkjet MFPs work better with color. They print with liquid ink, making them suitable for photos, presentations, tables, educational materials, and graphics. Some models have cartridges, while others have CISS (Continuous Ink Supply Systems), where ink is supplied from separate tanks. Laser MFPs are chosen for fast black-and-white printing and large volumes of text.
Recommendations for choosing an MFP
Before buying, it's worth looking not only at the price but also at the actual workload:
- print type: inkjet for color, laser for text;
- paper format: A4 for standard documents, A3 for larger diagrams;
- print speed, cartridge or toner resource;
- scanner resolution, automatic document feeder, duplex printing;
- Wi-Fi, USB, network connection, and tray capacity.
For drawings, large diagrams, and wide-format graphics, it's better to look at plotters, as a regular MFP is not designed for such tasks.
Where to buy an MFP?
An MFP should be chosen based on print volume, paper format, color needs, and scanning frequency. At Flash Army, you can find a model for home and office along with other equipment from the catalog. If you have doubts between inkjet, laser, color, or black-and-white options, consultants will help you understand the parameters, and your order will quickly arrive anywhere in Ukraine.
