VIDIK-S is a stationary drone video detector from Micro-wave, designed for rapid detection and display of unencrypted analog FPV video signals. The device automatically scans the airwaves in two popular bands and instantly outputs the detected video to the screen, allowing for quick localization of transmission sources.
Key Features and Capabilities
- Manufacturer: Micro-wave
- Product Type: Drone Detector
- Stationary version with split screen and receiver; connection between units via twisted pair (UTP)
- Operates in two bands: 1.2 GHz and 5.8 GHz
- Scanning frequency ranges: 1.2 GHz = 850–2200 MHz; 5.8 GHz = 4850–6100 MHz
- Battery capacity: 10000 mAh (stated 6–10 hours of operation depending on mode)
- Power and charging: 5V/2A Type-C
VIDIK Line Modifications
VIDIK-P — portable interceptor for 2 bands (1.2 and 5.8 GHz) with all components in one housing (screen, receivers, antennas, battery).
VIDIK-S — stationary version for 2 bands (1.2 and 5.8 GHz) with a split configuration: screen in one unit, receivers with antennas in another, connected by UTP twisted pair; optimal for vehicles, armored vehicles, field conditions.
VIDIK-P v3 — portable for 3 bands (1.2, 3.3, 5.8 GHz).
VIDIK-S v3 — stationary for 3 bands (1.2, 3.3, 5.8 GHz) with the same advantages of separate screen and receiver.

Hardware
Screen diagonal: 7 inches. There is an RCA connector for connecting an external monitor. A LED charge indicator is located on the right side of the housing; pressing the button during operation shows the charge level. Antennas connect via two SMA Female (external thread) connectors.
Operating Principle
After power-on, VIDIK-S automatically begins scanning the airwaves in 2 MHz steps; no additional buttons need to be pressed to start. Scanning is performed simultaneously across all bands. In search mode, the indication is a blinking red LED. Upon video interception, the device stops on that video, the screen turns on, an audible signal is emitted, and the LED illuminates steadily. The intercepted frequency is displayed in the upper left corner of the screen, and the RSSI level is shown at the top center. The I button allows muting the sound or adding the frequency to the ignore list for 10 seconds. The up/down buttons change the scanning direction; the + and - buttons perform fine-tuning of the frequency in 2 MHz steps. A full scan pass takes approximately 15–20 seconds. While intercepted video is displayed, scanning of other frequencies is paused.
Limitations
Attention! The detector cannot intercept digital, encoded, or encrypted video (e.g., from Mavic, Autel, Zala, and other UAVs). VIDIK is designed to intercept unencrypted analog video signals from FPV drones.
Detection Range and Practical Examples
The interception range depends on transmitter power, operating band (1.2, 3.3, 5.8 GHz), drone flight altitude, terrain, and radio wave propagation conditions. For example, in a test at a proving ground under conditions of: 1 W transmitter power, 5.8 GHz band, 70–100 m altitude, flat terrain, typical sunny day — the interception distance was 2300–2500 meters. According to user feedback: at 1.2 GHz, interceptions up to 8 km were recorded; with a directional antenna at 3.3 GHz, there were cases of stable reception up to 10 km (reasons: unknown transmitter power).
Selection Tips
Coaxial cables create significant losses when extending the antenna: RG-58 in the 5 GHz band over 10 m results in approximately 17 dB of loss; RG-8 about 7 dB. If the antenna is planned to be extended over a significant distance, even LNA amplifiers only partially compensate for losses and add their own noise. Therefore, for antenna separation, we recommend the VIDIK-S model.
VIDIK devices are mass-produced by Micro-wave, have undergone field and operational tests, and are available for order in industrial volumes.
