ARRAKIS Drone Detector by Duna Detectors — Professional Portable UAV Detection Module
ARRAKIS Drone Detector is a compact device from the Duna Detectors brand, designed for reliable detection and identification of unmanned aerial vehicles across a wide frequency range. ARRAKIS is intended for detecting signals in the 860-928 MHz, 955-1020 MHz, 720-915 MHz, and 2400-2500 MHz bands, allowing it to detect modern control and video transmission systems and operate effectively during defensive and reconnaissance missions.
The device is housed in a splash-proof plastic casing (not fully sealed). The kit includes detachable antennas (which can be replaced or extended with a cable), a mounting clip, and a display, which is described as both 64 pixels and a 128 by 64 pixel screen. ARRAKIS alerts to drone detection with an audible signal, vibration, and information displayed on the screen.
Key Features and Functions
- FSK detection (drone telemetry): 860-928 MHz, 955-1020 MHz;
- eLRS/FPV detection: 720-915 MHz;
- DJI (Mavic) detection: 2400-2500 MHz;
- Alerts: audible signal, vibration, information displayed on screen;
- Detection history: 4 active logs (each showing detection time, frequency, and RSSI signal level);
- USB Type-C connector for charging and connecting to a phone or PC;
- Nominal operating time: up to 1 day at +20 °C;
- Power: replaceable 18650 Li-Ion battery, located internally and replaceable.
Sensitivity Parameters
- FSK sensitivity (dBm): -80 / -90 / -100 / -110 / off;
- ELRS sensitivity (dBm): -130 / -160 / off;
- DJI sensitivity (dBm): -80 / -90 / -95 / off.
Device types for detection: UAVs — FSK 860-1020 MHz; FPV — FSK, eLRS 720-1020 MHz. Scanning of 720-1020 MHz and 2400-2500 MHz bands occurs in parallel. A full scan of the 720-1020 MHz band takes up to 100 seconds, while a full scan of 2.4 GHz (2400-2500 MHz) takes about 2 seconds.
Control and Interface
- Base button (top right) — change modes, settings, enter menu;
- Power button (left side) — press to turn on/off;
- “Menu” button — switch between modes, confirm selection, turn audible alert on/off (short/double press);
- Displays detected drones as a history — the newest message appears at the top; each entry shows detection time, frequency, and RSSI.
Operating Modes
- Automatic (auto) — primary mode, scans the entire range, analyzes signatures and identifies drone types, alerts with sound and vibration, and displays information on the screen;
- Spectrum (RSSI) — spectrum analyzer mode: displays radio signal activity in 868-870 MHz, 902-922 MHz, 970-1020 MHz, 2.4 GHz bands; signature recognition is not performed, but alerts may occur at high signal levels;
- Info — displays battery status and allows access to the menu for settings;
- Sleep mode — activated by long-pressing the “Menu” button (~5 s); the display turns off, scanning is paused or reduced, but the device continues to operate on battery with low power consumption; when connected via USB, the device can turn on regardless of the power button.
Menu and Additional Features
- Firmware and signature updates via Wi-Fi: create a network with SSID: drone_spices and password 87654321, the device automatically connects and checks for updates;
- Tracking — locking onto and continuously tracking a specific drone to determine its direction of movement using a directional antenna (useful for air defense);
- Sensitivity settings — setting the trigger threshold (higher threshold = faster scanning, but fewer signals analyzed);
- In the menu, you can individually enable/disable recognition of types: Orlan, Zala/Lancet, FPV, DJI (Mavic).
Drone Recognition and Display Notations
Example format: Or 902.2 -80 — Orlan, frequency 902.2 MHz, RSSI -80 dBm.
