Obriy 1.3 Drone Detector (FPV and Quadcopter) is a professional portable device from the manufacturer Kara Dag, designed to detect and analyze unmanned aerial vehicles in the 1.2 GHz, 2.4 GHz, and 4.9–6.0 GHz bands. The Obriy 1.3 model combines mobility and extensive functionality for security, special forces, and industrial applications. Available for order in 4 weeks.
Operating Principle and Detection
Obriy 1.3 continuously scans the 1.2 GHz, 2.4 GHz, and 4.9–6 GHz operating bands, where quadcopters and FPV systems typically operate. The device triggers an alarm based on two main criteria: the presence of a radio signal exceeding the activation threshold on the same frequency for at least 4 seconds; or the detection of an analog video signal of any duration, characteristic of FPV. To reduce false alarms, the device uses RF fingerprint verification, adjustable sensitivity thresholds, short signal filtering, and WiFi/Bluetooth channel identification.
Alerts and Interfaces
Upon signal detection, Obriy 1.3 provides light, vibration, and sound indications. The signal level is displayed on the back panel and through the periodicity of sound signals — the nature of the alerts allows for estimating the distance to the drone and determining its direction of movement in "Direction Finding" mode. The device can operate autonomously (in a pocket) or connected to an external screen via a 3.5mm Jack connector for intercepted video output; it also supports video output to a PC and data transfer via USB Type-C (Serial over USB) for integration with a command post.
Operating Modes and Integration
- "FPV Only" mode — ignores all signals except FPV, minimizing false alarms in a busy radio environment.
- "WiFi Filtering" mode — the device detects spectrum segments occupied by WiFi/Bluetooth and bypasses them without alarm.
- "Blackout" mode — turns off all LEDs for stealth.
- Integration with EW systems — an output is available for automatic EW activation upon threat detection.
- Headphone output for alarm signals and threat direction finding.
- Power via Bias-T for 5.8 GHz antenna — allows connecting external antennas up to 10m with an amplifier powered by the device.
- Ability to mute one or more bands (1.2, 2.4, 4.9–6 GHz) to ignore them even if the threshold is exceeded.
- Calibration of frequency response for a specific antenna and conditions, as well as editing sensitivity thresholds for each of the three bands.
Which Drones Does It Detect?
Obriy 1.3 detects most DJI drones and FPV drones that transmit video signals in the 1.2, 2.4, and 4.9–6 GHz bands. Note that the device may not react to narrowband FHSS telemetry signals from some transmitters (e.g., some Mavic modes), but most devices simultaneously emit a video channel, which is what the device detects. For FPV telemetry, detection depends on the presence of a video channel in the specified bands.
Functionality and Capabilities
- Intercepts analog video and outputs to an external screen or PC.
- Transfers spectral data via Android app or to a PC; remote data transfer to a command post.
- Automatic environment calibration with optimal threshold setting to minimize false alarms.
- Editing sensitivity thresholds for each band.
- Determines threat direction using a directional antenna in "Direction Finding" mode.
- Ability to disable individual alert methods (vibration, sound, light).

Detection Speed
- 1080 - 1360 MHz, FPV: 2-4 s
- 1080 - 1360 MHz, DJI Mavic: 3-4 s
- 2370 - 2510 MHz, FPV: 2-5 s
