Arsenal Patriota Level 4 Ultralight Armor Plate Set (40006Armox)
Brand: Specprom
Category: Military Gear > Armor Plates > Level 4 Protection
Description and Key Features
The Arsenal Patriota Level 4 Ultralight Armor Plate Set (40006Armox) is an innovative Ukrainian solution combining reliable protection with maximum mobility. These are the first Ukrainian-made Level 4 armor plates with a nominal weight of only 2.8 kg per plate, making them ideal for combat operations and intense movement without compromising protective properties.
Materials and Construction
The plates are made from Armox Advance ballistic steel from the Swedish SSAB concern, with a hardness of 58-63 HRC and a nominal steel thickness of 4.5 mm. The front is covered with Ukrainian-made ballistic felt, laminated with a PVC film layer for moisture protection. The felt is cut to the precise dimensions of the plate and applied using a multi-hour pressing method, ensuring strong adhesion of the coating to the metal and preventing delamination even after multiple impacts. The unique side-edging technology uses a material with a density of 800 kg/m³; each plate is pressed and held for an hour and a half, allowing the felt and metal to work as a single unit and minimize side spall upon impact at the plate's edge.
Backface Trauma Mitigation
Behind the armor plate, an 8 mm thick EVA damper with a density of 80 kg/m³ is installed. Unlike standard dampers made of foamed polyethylene or rubber (density 30–35 kg/m³), EVA 80 kg/m³ hardly deforms over time and significantly better reduces the risk of backface trauma upon bullet impact, particularly from SVD rifle rounds and other sniper rifles.
Shape, Dimensions, and Thickness
The plate has standard dimensions of 25 x 30 cm and an anatomical curve across its width to fit the chest. The cut corners do not restrict movement and allow for comfortable use of firearms. The full plate covering results in an overall thickness of 21 mm.
Certification and Testing
Each armor plate belongs to a specific batch and has a unique serial number and production date. The batch undergoes verification in a certified laboratory for compliance with DSTU 8782:2018 "under normal conditions." In case of positive results, a certificate and test protocol are issued; documents are available on each product page.
Standards and Sustained Tests
According to DSTU, a Level 4 armor plate withstands the following types of impacts:
- SVD rifle, 7.62-mm rifle cartridge 57-N-323s (LPS) in a steel jacket with a steel core. Bullet velocity — 850±15 m/s.
- AK-74 assault rifle, 5.45 mm cartridge, 7N10s (PP) bullet in a steel jacket with a steel heat-strengthened core. Bullet velocity — 910±15 m/s.
Additionally, the plate withstands AK-74 assault rifle, 5.45 mm cartridge, 7N6M bullet. Note: since 1989, the LPS cartridge has been replaced by a cartridge with a ST-M2 bullet with a core hardness of 65 HRC, which is analogous to the B-32 bullet for Level 6 protection.
Advantages over Ceramic Plates
Unlike ceramic plates, which are typically single-use and require replacement after the first impact, armor plates made of ballistic steel can withstand multiple shots and distribute energy across the surface, reducing the risk of localized damage and minimizing backface deformation. This makes the Arsenal Patriota set more durable and safer against repeated impacts.
The set is designed for military personnel, law enforcement, and civilians who require a high level of protection without excessive weight and with certified quality.
