AGM Multigel Battery
An external universal battery, manufactured using AGM multigel technology – a fully sealed external power source that requires no maintenance during storage and operation.
The manufacturing technology for universal external AGM (absorbent glass mat) batteries involves an absorbent fiberglass separator inside the battery. Batteries of this type perform excellently under increased loads.
The main feature of SILVER batteries is the use of silver alloying technology. The plates inside the battery are protected from corrosion processes, and the presence of silver significantly improves the gas recombination mechanism. SILVER batteries from LogicPower, compared to conventional multigel batteries, have an extended battery life and 15% higher starting currents.
Advantages of AGM Multigel Battery:
- The charge/discharge cycle life of an AGM (multigel) battery is 1000* (generally 6-7 years, depending on operating conditions).
- The battery can be installed in residential areas. The absence of free liquid electrolyte between the plates and the complete sealing of the casing prevent acid leakage and guarantee no harmful fumes.
- These batteries show stable results in practical use when operating in low (-20°C) and high (+50°C) ambient temperatures.
- In operation, the AGM (multigel) lead-acid battery can withstand prolonged discharge, cyclic discharge, deep discharge, and high-current discharge.
- Batteries of this type have low self-discharge rates during long-term storage and reliable self-protection against over-discharge and over-charge.
Features of AGM Multigel Battery Production
Multigel batteries are manufactured using advanced AGM technology with thickened plates featuring high anti-corrosion properties.
Porous insulating thin fiberglass separators are placed inside the battery. The separators and electrode plates are tightly pressed against each other. Thus, no free liquid electrolyte remains between the battery plates, as it is contained within the separator and the active part of the electrodes.
The amount of liquid electrolyte is dosed so that small pores are filled with acid, while larger ones ensure gas circulation.
The battery design has an improved gas recombination system – oxygen and hydrogen, formed as a result of chemical processes, do not evaporate beyond the sealed casing before condensation.
Areas of Application: Why is an AGM Multigel Battery Needed?
A universal external charging battery is used:
- In telecommunication and other communication systems, including as an external battery for charging mobile phones, two-way radios, etc.
- For equipment in video surveillance, security, burglar, fire, and other alarm systems.
- In uninterruptible power supply systems for server stations.
- As a power source for medical, laboratory, commercial, and other specialized equipment.
- In energy storage systems from alternative sources (batteries for solar panels).
- As a battery for emergency or LED lighting.
- As batteries for uninterruptible power supply units and UPS.
Which batteries are suitable for emergency lighting systems in Ukraine, and which battery should you buy for a UPS?
The choice of battery depends on the power of the consumers to be connected, as well as the required autonomous operating time of the electrical equipment from the battery.
An external AGM (multigel) battery for a UPS must have sufficient capacity, a wide range of operating temperatures, and a long service life.
Before deciding which battery is best to buy for a UPS, carefully study the parameters of the uninterruptible power supply and determine the amount of time required for autonomous operation of the electrical equipment.
AGM multigel batteries are in high demand among consumers who want to buy an inexpensive and universal battery for a heating boiler, emergency lighting systems, or autonomous water supply.
How to avoid battery capacity loss in conditions of frequent power outages?
Two important rules for caring for AGM, GEL, MG batteries:
- Do not frequently discharge the battery by more than 30% of its capacity (consider this when calculating battery capacity)
- After discharge, the battery must be fully charged with a current of 1/10 of its capacity for 10 hours
IMPORTANT! If a group of several batteries connected in parallel or in series is used, then:
- all batteries must have the same capacity,
- be of the same type (AGM, GEL, or MG),
- have the same voltage, the same number of charge/discharge cycles,
- be from the same batch of the same brand.
Violation of these requirements leads to premature failure of one or more batteries and is not a warranty case. You can find more detailed information in our article.
