Description of Fenix ARE-D2 (ARE-D2-E) Charger
The Fenix ARE-D2 charger is a versatile two-channel solution from the Fenix brand for those who need a reliable and multifunctional charger. The model is compatible with a wide range of battery types: Li-ion batteries in 10440, 14500, 16340, 18650, 21700, 26650 formats, and Ni-Mh or Ni-Cd batteries of AA, AAA, and C types. The device supports connection to various power sources, including portable solar panels, making it convenient for hiking and field conditions.
Fenix ARE-D2 automatically identifies the inserted battery and selects the optimal charging program, but also allows the user to manually select the current strength. For Li-ion batteries, three charging current modes are available: 0.5 A, 1 A, and 2 A. For nickel-based batteries, two modes are available: 0.5 A and 1 A. Current selection is possible within 8 seconds after turning on the device.
Charging process information is displayed on the built-in screen: charging current, voltage, battery capacity, and charging time. Data for each slot can be switched by pressing the corresponding button. The display can be turned off by holding the button for 2 seconds.
The model has a discharge function in Power Bank mode, which works only with Li-ion batteries of any supported format. In power bank mode, battery charging is temporarily unavailable, but the battery can power a smartphone, GPS tracker, or other equipment in the field.
The charge indicator consists of 5 lights that display the charge level as follows: if only 1 light is on and blinking — less than or up to 20% charge; if the first light is constantly on and the second is blinking — 21%-40%; if 2 lights are constantly on and 1 more is blinking — 41%-60%; if 3 lights are on and 1 is blinking — 61%-80%; if 4 lights are on and the fifth is blinking — 81%-100%; if all 5 lights are constantly on — the battery is fully charged. After full charging, the device automatically shuts off for Li-ion batteries to prevent overcharging, and for nickel-based batteries, it switches to trickle charging mode at approximately 100 mA.
