SpeedyBee F405 V5 is an updated version of one of the most popular flight stacks for FPV drones. The manufacturer has included everything necessary for a modern build in this model: from wireless setup via smartphone to simplified solder-free peripheral connection. The stack consists of an F405 processor-based flight controller (FC) and a powerful 32-bit 55A electronic speed controller (ESC), making it a versatile choice.
The main change in the V5 version is the transition to a 32-bit ESC with OX32 firmware, which provides faster throttle response and smoother motor startup. The flight controller received an updated ICM-42688P gyroscope with independent power supply, minimizing the impact of electrical interference on flight stability. Instead of SD cards, built-in 16 MB memory is now used for "Black Box" log recording. The board also features ready-made connectors for GPS and receiver connection, so a drone can now be assembled with minimal soldering.
The Wireless Tuning 2.0 system deserves special attention. You can not only change Betaflight settings via the mobile app but also update the FC firmware or even restore it after software failures ("unbrick") without connecting to a computer. The board also provides 9V power control for the video transmitter and 5V for the camera or LEDs directly from the remote control, which is useful for DIY projects or night flights.
For those who want maximum convenience during assembly, there is the Deluxe version. It includes a set of additional tools and modules that usually have to be purchased separately. This includes a soldering practice board, a short-circuit protection device (Smoke Stopper), an external Type-C port for convenient access to settings, and other useful tools. This is an ideal choice for beginners.

Operation and setup

- Mounting feature: the USB Type-C connector is now "recessed" into the board's body by 2 mm deeper, protecting it from being torn out.
- ESC firmware: the controller runs on the new OX32 software. Use the online configurator (similar to Bluejay/BLHeli) for its setup.
- Power management: 9V and 5V outputs can be turned on/off using a toggle switch on the remote control via the Modes (Pinio) tab in Betaflight.
