Description of Fenix HL16 Headlamp (Light Green)
The functional, reliable, and ultralight Fenix HL16 headlamp in a green body is designed for outdoor activities, hiking, and daily use. The model combines a powerful Luminus SST20 white LED and an additional SMD 2835 red LED for safe illumination of nearby objects without dazzling others. LEDs and Brightness
The main Luminus SST20 white LED provides a maximum brightness of up to 450 lumens in Turbo mode and an illumination distance of up to 104 meters. The additional SMD 2835 is responsible for red light for close-range work. The lifespan of both LEDs exceeds 50,000 hours. The headlamp body can tilt 60° for comfortable light direction.
Operating Modes
The headlamp has 6 modes, divided into two groups: 4 white and 2 red.
White Light
- Turbo: 450 lumens – 2700 candela – 3 hours – 104 meters;
- High: 150 lumens – 846 candela – 8 hours – 58 meters;
- Med: 50 lumens – 261 candela – 27 hours – 32 meters;
- Low: 5 lumens – 24 candela – 100 hours – 10 meters.
Red Light
- Constant Light: 5 lumens – 10 candela – 6 meters – 100 hours;
- Flashing Light (SOS): 5 lumens – 10 candela – 6 meters – 200 hours.
During intensive operation, the body may heat up; when the temperature reaches 65°C, an intelligent control system activates, gradually reducing power to cool the electronics.
Controls
For ease of control, the Fenix HL16 is equipped with two separate buttons on the top of the body: the right button is responsible for turning on/off and switching white modes, and the left button is for turning on/off and selecting red illumination. Control is simple and fast:
- White Light Activation: press and hold the right button for 0.5 seconds when the headlamp is off;
- Red Light Activation: press and hold the left button when the headlamp is off;
- Turning Off Illumination: press and hold either button for 0.5 seconds when the headlamp is on;
- Changing Mode: single press of the right (for white light) or left (for red light) switch.
The model has a last-mode memory and an electronic lockout function: holding one or both switches for 3 seconds activates the lockout, confirmed by 4 flashes of red light. To unlock, hold both buttons for 3 seconds; 4 flashes of red light will occur again. In new 2024 versions, to lock, simultaneously press and hold both switches for 3 seconds.
Power Source
Power is provided by three AAA batteries (can be 1.5V alkaline or 1.2V disposable Ni-MH). 10440 Li-ion batteries are not compatible with this model. Only batteries of the same type and brand should be installed in the battery compartment, otherwise damage may occur. For convenience, three Pairdeer alkaline batteries are included so the headlamp can be turned on right out of the box.
Construction and Materials
The body is made of premium polycarbonate, resistant to thermal effects, aggressive environments (acid, gasoline, oils), and impacts. The headlamp withstands drops from a height of up to 1.5 meters without cracking. The joints are sealed, and the dust and water protection level complies with the IP66 standard. Body dimensions: 64 x 48 x 27 mm.
The 36 mm wide head strap is perforated for optimal ventilation and comfort, and the length of the elastic band is adjustable with a regulator. Reflective elements are located along the entire length to increase user visibility in the dark.
