Accurate detection through steam, dust, and time
FireProtect 2 is a new generation device for instant fire detection. The unique smoke chamber does not require regular cleaning, the bispectral sensor distinguishes smoke from steam, the thermistor quickly reacts to the combustion of synthetic materials, and smart software algorithms minimize the probability of false alarms. All this complies with modern fire safety standards. Thanks to its thoughtful design, mounting, and in-app configuration, the detector is installed simply and quickly.
Principle of Operation
Smoke Detection
FireProtect 2 detects smoke and does not react to water vapor thanks to a bispectral optical sensor with blue and infrared LEDs. The LEDs emit light of different wavelengths, allowing the sensor to determine the size of volatile particles and react only to smoke.
The detector's smoke chamber is protected from dust, dirt, and insects. Even if dust gets in and settles in the smoke chamber, it does not affect detection or degrade its performance. The optical system is designed so that non-volatile particles or insects cannot simultaneously appear in two beams and trigger a false alarm.
Detection of Rapid Temperature Increase
Two built-in thermistors are responsible for reacting to temperature increases. The thermistors are located outside the detector for faster threat detection.
If the room temperature exceeds 64°C or rises at a rate of 10°C per minute, the detector recognizes this as a rapid temperature increase and raises an alarm. A temperature alarm can trigger even if there is no smoke in the room.
Detection of Dangerous Carbon Monoxide Concentration
A built-in chemical sensor with a service life of 10 years is responsible for detecting dangerous carbon monoxide concentrations in FireProtect 2.
Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, tasteless, and odorless gas produced by the incomplete combustion of fuel in car engines and heating appliances that run on coal or other natural fuels. For example, it can be produced by fireplaces, boilers, or heating systems. In sealed or enclosed spaces with poor ventilation, a life-threatening concentration of carbon monoxide can accumulate.
Synchronous Fire Detector Alarm
The detector supports synchronous fire alarms. This function activates the built-in sirens of all Ajax fire detectors in the system if at least one of them triggers. In case of fire, this allows as many people as possible on the premises to be notified.
FireProtect 2 detectors have an improved synchronous alarm algorithm that activates the sirens of all fire detectors within 20 seconds. The function only works when the detectors are operating with a hub.
Operation Without a Hub
FireProtect 2 detectors can be used without connecting to an Ajax hub. In this case, the detector reports fire alarms with a built-in siren and LED indication but does not send notifications to the user's smartphone, Ajax Translator, or PRO Desktop.
Manual and Automatic Testing
FireProtect 2 regularly checks the battery and sensor status. If a malfunction is detected, the hub will instantly send a notification to users and the monitoring station. The detector itself will activate the corresponding light and sound notification with the built-in siren and LEDs. All detector statuses can be checked at any time in Ajax apps.
The detector supports test mode. The mode is activated by pressing the front panel of the detector. The front panel is equipped with a mechanical button, so it can be pressed with either a hand or a mop. During the test, the built-in siren and sensor testing are launched. This allows the installation engineer to test the device at any time, and also to demonstrate the light and sound indication of the detector to the client for different
types of alarms.Jeweller Communication Technology
Jeweller is a radio protocol for fast and reliable two-way communication between the hub and connected devices. The protocol provides a wireless communication range with FireProtect 2 of up to 1700 meters. Such a communication range allows detectors to be installed even in very large facilities.
Jeweller is responsible for transmitting alarms and events. The radio protocol also ensures the activation of a synchronous fire detector alarm within 20 seconds in a system with any number of FireProtect 2 devices. Thanks to Jeweller, users and the monitoring station can always see the current status of the detectors in Ajax apps.
Quick Installation and Connection
FireProtect 2 does not require disassembling the detector housing for installation. Replaceable or non-replaceable batteries are installed, and the SmartBracket mount is removed from the detector without tools. The SmartBracket mounting panel has 90° of freedom. This allows the installation engineer to align the detector's position after installation.
The detector connects to the Ajax security system in less than a minute. Simply open the Ajax app, scan the QR code, and add the device to a room and security group.
