The Civivi Baby Banter knife was designed by American designer Ben Petersen as a scaled-down version of the full-size Civivi Banter model, adapted for everyday pocket carry in an urban environment. The 59.4 mm blade is made of Nitro-V steel — a high-carbon steel with added vanadium and nitrogen, which increases corrosion resistance. The blade surface is treated with a black stonewash finish, providing a matte look, reducing metallic glare, and concealing scratches and fingerprints. The grind type is flat; the steel hardness is 58-60 HRC.
The blade opens with a 6AL4V titanium thumb stud. The design includes a ceramic ball bearing for smoother action. The locking mechanism is a reliable liner lock. For safe operation, the spine has a jimping for thumb rest and a finger choil to prevent the hand from slipping onto the blade.
The handle is made of G10 fiberglass laminate (G10 scales), which does not crack upon impact, and does not lose its shape or color when exposed to sun, oils, or acids. The handle edges are specially rounded for a comfortable grip. The handle butt features a two-position stainless steel clip and a wide lanyard hole.
