This compact shoulder module is designed to significantly expand the protected area for the wearer when used with the M-TAC Cuirass QRS plate carrier and M-TAC gorget. The shoulder protection provides anti-fragmentation protection for the biceps, shoulder joint, and arteries, while maintaining high maneuverability, an anatomical fit, and compatibility with additional equipment.

Design and Attachment

The design features convenient attachment to the shoulder part of the plate carrier using hook-and-loop fasteners, a plastic frame with a D-ring for quick removal or adjustment, and a vertical strap with hook-and-loop for height adjustment. The arm circumference is secured by a special horizontal strap, ensuring a snug fit of the module and preventing displacement during active movements.

Materials and Ballistic Characteristics

The shoulder pads are made of Cordura 500D and come with ballistic inserts made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE). The armor inserts meet the requirements of STANAG 2920 with a V-50 anti-fragmentation resistance rating of approximately 580 m/s. In terms of composition equivalence, the armor inserts correspond to Class 1A (9x18 APS) according to DSTU 4103-2002 and Class 1 (9x18 APS, 9x19 Luger) according to the new DSTU 8782:2018. Please note that the designation 1A or Class 1 refers to the equivalent composition, which is tested on standard 400x400 mm samples; smaller and differently shaped samples may show differences in injury prevention indicators.
