Unique Features and Controls
The HL40R has seven operating modes, grouped into two subsystems for convenient access: main modes and functional modes. Activation and switching are performed using two buttons on the body. A long press of 0.5 seconds activates Eco mode (30 lumens), then short presses allow sequential switching between Eco, Minimum (70 lumens), Medium (130 lumens), and Maximum (300 lumens). The functional group similarly allows activating Reading mode (4 lumens) and SOS mode (30 lumens). Turbo (600 lumens) is activated by holding the button for 1.2 seconds but automatically turns off after 1 minute to prevent overheating; it can be reactivated if needed.
The headlamp body is made of durable aircraft-grade aluminum combined with plastic, ensuring reliability and resistance to damage. The HL40R withstands drops from a height of up to 1 m and has an IP66 water protection rating, meaning it will work in the rain. It weighs 130 grams without batteries and has dimensions of 68×54×42 mm.
Battery and Charging
The model features a built-in 2000 mAh lithium-polymer battery, equivalent to the capacity of about three AA batteries. Charging is done via a USB/micro-USB cable, which is included in the package. The built-in charge level indicator provides information through a clear sequence of LEDs: one flashing LED means less than 20%, combinations of flashing and steady lights indicate intermediate levels, and four steady LEDs mean a full charge. During operation, the headlamp also shows the approximate charge level: four LEDs — 80–100%, three — 60–80%, two — 40–60%, one — 20–40%, one flashing — less than 20%.
Mounting and Optics
The headlamp comes with an elastic strap featuring a split occipital band for secure fixation on the head or helmet. The swivel mount allows the device to be tilted vertically up to 60°. For precise adjustment of the beam angle and width, a rotating ring is provided, which changes the focus from a narrow 13° beam (with radial illumination) to a wide, uniform flood of 52°–75°. The illumination distance varies from 4 m in the lowest brightness mode to 147 m in the most effective focused mode.
