The set comes without cut corners, which offers a larger protection area; while cut corners generally do not restrict movement and allow for more convenient use of firearms, this product emphasizes an increased protection area.

Materials and Construction

The main body of the plate is made of Armox Advance ballistic steel from the Swedish concern SSAB, with a hardness of 58-63 HRC. The nominal metal thickness inside the plate is 5 mm. The front surface is covered with Ukrainian-made ballistic felt, laminated with a special PVC film for moisture protection. The felt is precisely cut and applied using a multi-hour pressing method, ensuring strong adhesion of the coating to the metal even after several shots.

Anti-fragmentation and Edge Solutions

To minimize the likelihood of core and bullet jacket fragments flying out, a proprietary lightweight material is used, and the side edging is made of a material with a density of 800 kg/m³. The edging is pressed in a special device and held for an hour and a half, which significantly reduces the risk of lateral core ejection when hitting the edge of the plate.

Mitigation of Behind-Armor Blunt Trauma

Behind each plate, an 8 mm thick EVA damper with a density of 80 kg/m³ is installed. Unlike standard dampers made of foamed polyethylene or rubber with a density of 30–35 kg/m³, this damper has less deformation over time and better indicators for reducing behind-armor blunt trauma, which is especially important when hit by sniper rifle rounds, such as SVD.

Shape, Dimensions, and Thickness

Overall dimensions of one armor plate: 25x30 cm with an anatomical curve across the width to match the shape of the chest. The thickness of the plate with full coating is 21 mm. The set includes plates without cut corners, providing an increased protection area.

Testing, Certification, and Documentation

Each armor plate has a unique number and production date. Batches undergo testing in a certified laboratory for compliance with DSTU 8782:2018 under normal conditions. Based on the test results, a certificate for the batch valid for 6 months from the date of issue and a test protocol are issued; these documents are available on the product page.

• Additionally withstands: AKM 7.62x39, 57-BZ-231 (armor-piercing incendiary) bullet with a steel heat-strengthened core.
• AK-74 assault rifle: 5.45 mm cartridge, 7N6M bullet is also withstood.

Advantages Compared to Ceramic Plates

Ballistic steel plates have several important advantages: they can withstand multiple shots, demonstrate less behind-armor deformation, and distribute energy more evenly across the plate surface, which reduces the risk of rib fractures and internal organ damage in the absence of an additional ballistic package. Ceramic plates are often single-use and require immediate replacement after the first hit, and also show higher behind-armor deformation.
