Engineering precision

DualCurtain Outdoor monitors the perimeter without restricting people's movement inside. Two independent optical systems with narrow viewing sectors and flexible settings allow precise definition of the protected area up to 30 meters long — excluding potential sources of false alarms from the sensor's field of view. And the unique ELSA software algorithm filters out interference and animal triggers, reacting instantly to a human.

On the sides of the detector are two optical systems with narrow viewing sectors, each based on two IR sensors. Detection accuracy is always high thanks to temperature compensation. Sensor signals are analyzed by our developed ELSA algorithm.

Only if two sensors of one system simultaneously detect a signal characteristic of human movement, the detector raises an alarm.

How the ELSA algorithm works

Signal analysis is critically important for a motion detector that receives minimal information about an object in the protected area due to a 4.5° horizontal view. Accurate analysis ensures quick reaction to people, filtering out false triggers from animals and natural outdoor interference.

Shape analysis

The shapes of the IR sensor signals must correspond to the nature of the protected zone crossing by an intruder. In any direction: perpendicular to the direction of the detector's optics or along it. At this stage, a correction is made for signal intensity to account for the distance from the sensors and the dimensions of the object.

Pattern comparison

Signal amplitudes are checked against a pattern database. To create it, we analyzed thousands of test triggers of curtain detectors on people, animals, glare, and other natural interference in various weather conditions. Signal patterns must match or differ insignificantly from those characteristic of a human.

Time verification

When the signals of both IR sensors meet the conditions: it is movement and it is characteristic of a human, the ELSA algorithm compares the time windows of the signals — whether the upper and lower sensors detected movement synchronously.

The ELSA algorithm needs fractions of a second to deliver a verdict of "threat" or "false alarm."

Effectiveness in the near zone

DualCurtain Outdoor uses a unique technology among outdoor curtain detectors to expand the protected area. When "Near Zone Detection" is enabled, the detector's upper IR sensor gains an additional narrow viewing sector, directed at a 40-degree angle downwards relative to the main sector. This mode allows both sensors to detect movement when a person crosses the protected perimeter near the device's casing, eliminating the blind spot characteristic of such detectors.

The "Near Zone Detection" mode is designed to protect windows and other passages that are inaccessible to animals. The proximity of the detection zone vectors significantly reduces the effectiveness of pet immunity.

One casing — two independent detectors

The detection range of the two optical systems is adjusted independently, allowing precise definition of the perimeter protected by DualCurtain Outdoor. This avoids false alarms from a bush swaying in the wind or people walking on a public sidewalk. And to prevent a column or downpipe on the facade from obstructing the detector's view, the optical systems can be tilted vertically. Sensitivity can be adjusted or one of the optical systems deactivated via the app.

Attack resistance

DualCurtain Outdoor cannot be covertly blinded or disabled, even if Ajax is disarmed. The detector's optical systems are reinforced with advanced masking sensors that react to obstructions, covering, and painting of the casing. The tamper prevents covert removal of the device from its mount. And even if the detector is instantly destroyed, the hub will take less than a minute to detect loss of communication and notify the security console and users of the problem.

Guaranteed alarm delivery

We developed the Jeweller radio protocol to guarantee seamless interaction of all security system devices. The radio protocol uses frames to synchronize device communication sessions, authentication to prevent spoofing, and encryption to protect against data theft.

Hassle-free installation

The process of connecting and configuring DualCurtain Outdoor maximizes the installation engineer's time. To add the detector to the system, simply scan the QR code with the Ajax app, assign it a name and room. Configuration takes place in the app in real time using detection zone and communication tests. If necessary, the detector can be disabled or its system parameters reconfigured without a site visit to the protected object.
