Construction and Materials

The plate body is made of armor steel from the leading Swedish concern SSAB, model Armox Advance, nominally 5 mm thick, with a hardness of 58–63 HRC. This combination of materials and processing ensures compliance with Class 4 according to DSTU and even exceeds requirements in certain tests, withstanding at least one shot from an AKM 7.62×39 (57-BZ-231 bullet) under laboratory conditions.

The front surface is covered with Ukrainian ballistic felt, laminated with a PVC layer for moisture protection. The felt is cut to precise size and pressed using a multi-stage method, ensuring strong adhesion to the metal even after multiple impacts.

The side edge is made with a density of 800 kg/m³ and pressed in a special device for about an hour and a half, which prevents the core from flying out sideways when hit near the plate's edge.

Damping and Back-Face Trauma Protection

The rear part of the plate is equipped with an 8 mm thick EVA damper with a density of 80 kg/m³. Unlike standard dampers made of foamed polyethylene or rubber with a density of 30–35 kg/m³, EVA material deforms minimally over time and more effectively reduces back-face trauma. Thanks to this, the armor plates show minimal back-face deformation from hits by sniper systems such as the SVD.
