Patriot's Arsenal — Lightweight Armor Plate without Cut Corners, Class 4 Protection

Specprom presents a set of 2 "Lightweight BC" armor plates of Ukrainian production, designed for those who move a lot and require maximum protection without unnecessary weight. The model is positioned as a plate without cut corners and has an anatomical curve across its width, conforming to the shape of the chest; its full-coverage thickness is 21 mm.

Construction and Materials

The plates use premium Armox Advance armor steel (Swedish SSAB concern) with a nominal thickness of 5 mm and a hard surface of 58-63 HRC. The front is covered with Ukrainian-made ballistic felt, which is additionally laminated with a protective PVC film for moisture resistance. The felt is cut to precise dimensions and pressed for hours, ensuring reliable adhesion to the metal even after multiple impacts. The edges feature unique side-edging with a density of 800 kg/m3, which is pressed in a special device for an hour and a half to reduce the risk of lateral core ejection upon impact on the plate's edge.

Mitigation of Behind-Armor Blunt Trauma

Behind the plate, an 8 mm thick EVA damper with a density of 80 kg/m3 is installed. Unlike standard dampers made of foamed polyethylene or rubber (30-35 kg/m3), EVA hardly deforms over time and has better indicators for reducing behind-armor blunt trauma. Thanks to this, "Lightweight BC" plates demonstrate minimal behind-armor deformation from impacts from SVD rifles and other sniper systems.

About Ballistic Characteristics and Certification

The plate complies with Class 4 protection according to DSTU 8782:2018. Each armor plate has a unique number and production date; batches undergo testing in certified laboratories with the issuance of a certificate and test protocol (certificate valid for 6 months). According to DSTU, the plate withstands:

• SVD rifle, 7.62 mm cartridge 57-N-323s (LPS), bullet velocity 850±15 m/s;
• AK-74 assault rifle, 5.45 mm cartridge, 7N10s (PP) bullet, bullet velocity 910±15 m/s.

Additionally, the plate withstands AKM 7.62×39 with 57-BZ-231 (armor-piercing incendiary) bullets — minimum 1 shot, as well as 5.45×39: 7N6M.

Advantages Compared to Ceramic Plates

Unlike ceramic plates, which according to global practice are usually subject to immediate replacement after the first impact, armor steel plates can withstand multiple shots and do not require immediate replacement. The behind-armor deformation of ceramics is significantly greater, which increases the risk of injuries (broken ribs, internal organ damage) when used without an additional ballistic package; armor steel transfers bullet energy over a larger area and has better indicators for reducing injuries.

Shape, Dimensions, and Weight

The armor plate has standard dimensions of 250×300 mm (25×30 cm) with an anatomical curve and, as stated in the title, is sold without cut corners. The text also mentions that cut corners in other models do not restrict movement and allow for comfortable use of firearms. The plate's full-coverage thickness is 21 mm.
