Arsenal Patriota armor plate, protection class 5 (price for a set of 2 plates) — Specprom
Product description: Arsenal Patriota — a class 5 armor plate from the Specprom brand, supplied as a set of two plates (price is for the set). This is a reinforced armor plate made of ballistic steel, designed for maximum protection against sniper fire and armor-piercing rounds in cases where protection reliability is prioritized over absolute mobility. The weight of one plate is approximately 4.2 kg.
Material and construction
The plate is made of ballistic steel from the Swedish concern SSAB — Armox Advance with a hardness of 58-63 HRC and a nominal thickness of 7 mm. The front part is covered with Ukrainian-made ballistic felt, laminated with a PVC layer for moisture protection. The felt is cut to precise dimensions and pressed using a multi-hour method, ensuring reliable adhesion to the metal even after multiple impacts.
Anti-fragmentation and side properties
Lightweight, proprietary materials are used to reduce the risk of core and fragment ejection. Innovative side edging with a material density of 800 kg/m³ is pressed together with the plate in a special device for one and a half hours, which almost eliminates side core ejection upon impact on the plate's edge.
Mitigation of behind-armor blunt trauma
Behind each plate, an 8 mm thick EVA damper with a density of 80 kg/m³ is installed. Unlike standard dampers made of foamed polyethylene or rubber with a density of 30–35 kg/m³, this damper hardly deforms over time and more effectively reduces behind-armor blunt trauma. Class 5 "Reinforced" armor plates do not have significant behind-armor deformation, which increases user safety during repeated impacts.
Shape, dimensions, and thickness
Standard plate dimensions: 25x30 cm with an anatomical curve across the width to match the chest shape. Cut corners do not restrict movement and allow for comfortable use of firearms. The plate's thickness with full covering is 23 mm.
Certification and testing
Each armor plate has a unique number and production date. Batches are tested in a certified laboratory for compliance with DSTU 8782:2018 under normal conditions. Based on the test results, a batch certificate valid for 6 months from the issue date and a test protocol are issued. Documents can be viewed on each product's page.
Parameters of sustained damage according to DSTU
- SVD rifle, 7.62-mm rifle cartridge 57-N-323s (LPS), in a steel jacket with a steel core. Bullet velocity — 850±15 m/s.
- AKM 7.62x39, bullet 57-BZ-231 (armor-piercing incendiary), in a steel jacket with a steel heat-strengthened core. Bullet velocity — 745±15 m/s.
- Note: since 1989, instead of LPS, a cartridge with an ST-M2 bullet with a 65 HRC hardness core has been produced, similar to the B-32 bullet for class 6 protection.
- Additionally withstands: AK-74 assault rifle, 5.45 mm cartridge, 7N22 bullet and 7N6M bullet.
Advantages over ceramic plates
Ceramic armor plates are often single-use and require immediate replacement after the first impact. Ballistic steel plates have higher durability against repeated shots and do not require such frequent replacement. Behind-armor deformation of ceramics is usually greater, which increases the risk of rib fractures or internal organ damage when used without an additional ballistic package. A steel plate distributes bullet energy across its surface, reducing localized trauma and improving behind-armor blunt trauma reduction.

This armor plate is designed for those who need reliable protection against armor-piercing rounds and fragments, but prefer steel over ceramics due to greater durability against repeated impacts and less behind-armor deformation. If you need an optimal balance between protection and durability in harsh conditions — Arsenal Patriota class 5 plates from Specprom are an excellent choice.
