Description
A hydrometer is a special float-type device with a dual scale for measuring the freezing/boiling point of coolant. It is designed to test ethylene glycol-based mixtures, and works optimally with a 50/50 solution of antifreeze and distilled water. The device consists of the following parts: a rubber bulb for drawing in liquid; a transparent body with a scale; a curved hose for accessing the reservoir or radiator. The hydrometer measures: Freeze Point — indicates the temperature at which antifreeze crystallizes. Range: from -43 °C to -12 °C/from -45 °F to +10°F Boiling Point — indicates the temperature at which the liquid boils under pressure. Range: from +125 °C to +131 °C/from +257°F to +268°F The device is suitable for diagnosing antifreeze both cold and hot. The device is not intended for measuring the density of electrolyte in batteries — for this, special battery hydrometers calibrated for sulfuric acid are required. Boiling point measurements are correct at a system pressure of 15 PSI. Not suitable for propylene glycol or concentrates without water. Do not use for electrolyte, brake fluid, diesel, etc.
