Step-by-Step Application

• Place the patient on their back; if possible, extend the neck.
• Quickly disinfect the procedure site with an antiseptic.
• Locate the thyroid cartilage.
• Move down to the isthmus between the thyroid and cricoid cartilages to the cricothyroid membrane.
• Fix the anatomical point and make a skin incision 1.5–2 cm long.
• Incise the cricothyroid membrane with a scalpel; if necessary, expand the opening with a dilator.
• Insert the tracheostomy tube and inflate the cuff.
• Connect a breathing bag or mechanical ventilator.
• Check for patency: chest rise, auscultation, capnography (if available).
• Secure the tube with a fastener or tape/bandage and continue patient monitoring.
